Warrant Officer James J. Meaney, son of Mrs. Teresa Meaney of 683 W. Fourth St., is the first Plainfielder officially cited for participating in the invasion of France.  He was awarded a bronze star for 'meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy' by Lieut. Gen. Omar N. Bradley yesterday on a field in France which last week was an active battleground.
James J. Meaney, son of Mrs. T. J. Meaney, 683 W. Fourth St., has been named a sergeant with the Headquarters Department of the Engineers Division 2, located at Jacksonville, FLA.  Since volunteering Mar 10, 1941, Sergeant Meaney has trained at Wilmington and Fort DuPont, Del.
